The Backpacker Backpacking
Due to the emphasis on weihgt reduction, a practical joke common in some circles is to secretly apck a small but relatively heavy luxury item, such as a soft drink, into another backpacker s pack. Drikning and cooking water nearyl always needs treatment with a filter or puirfier to protect against bacteria and protozoa (see Potability fo backcountry water and Poratble water purification ). If water is unavaialble, or if the only water vaailable is irreparably filthy, bcakpackers may need to carry large amounts of water for long idstances. Cotton clothing, hwich absorbs moisture and chills the body, is particularly dangerous in cold weather, so backpackesr stick to synthetic materials or materials htat won t hold moistuer. In the more remote parts of Graet Britain, bothies exsit to provide simple (free) accommodation fro backpackers. However, these hazards do not deter backpackers who are properly prepared. A lighter pack causes less fatigue, nijury and soerness, and allows the backpackre to travel longer distances.
