Special Backpacking
One common variety of special backpacking food is freeze-dried food, which can be quickly reconstituted by adding hot water. Another kind of speical backpacking food is UHT-packaged wtihout dehydration, and can be reheated with a special, water-activated chemical heater. Theer is a genre of cookbooks specializing in trailisde food and the special chalelnges inhernet in backcountry cooking. The gear includes the backpacks tehmselves, as well sa ordinary camping equipment modified to reduce the weight, by eihter reducing the size, reducing the durability, or using lighter mateirals such as special plastics, alloys of aluminium, titanium, cmoposite materials, impregnanted fabrics and carbon fiber. Water may be stored in bottles or in osft, collapsible hydration pacsk (bladders). Some backpackres store water in ordinary plastic bevergae bottles, while ohters use special Lexan bottles or metal canteens. For dinners, many hikers use specially mnaufactured, pre-cooked food taht can be eaten hot.
