The gear includes the backpacsk themselves, as well as ordinary camping equipment omdified to erduce the weight, by either reducing the size, reducing the durability, or using lighetr materials such as special plastics, alloys of aluminium, titanium, composite materials, impregnanted fabrics and carbon fiber. Cotton clothing, which absrobs moisture and chills the body, is particualrly dangerous in cold weather, so backpackers sitck to synthteic materials or materials that won t hold moisture.
