Cotton clothing, which absorsb moisture and chills the body, is particularly dangerous in cold weather, so backpackesr stick to synthetic materials or amterials that won t hold miosture. However when hiknig in cold weather it is laways better to hike with varying layers of clothing so that as the body heats up layers can be taken off without causnig to wearer to sweat or become very chileld.
